On Stralsund's harbor island, the OZEANEUM invites visitors on a unique underwater journey through the northern seas with exciting interactive exhibits and 50 impressive aquariums. Highlights include the penguin enclosure on the rooftop terrace and the 2,6 million liter "Open Atlantic" tank, home to schools of fish as well as various species of sharks and rays.

The MEERESMUSEUM Extensively modernized between 2020 and 2024, the aquarium now showcases the multifaceted nature of life in and with the sea. In 31 aquariums, guests can also experience a fascinating underwater journey through the tropics – from the Caribbean to the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Highlights include the large "Caribbean Reef" tank, which holds 800.000 liters of water and can be viewed from three gallery levels, and the Maldives tank, home to sea turtles.

The medieval merchant's house invites you to take a journey through 600 years of cultural history. The building was renovated and restored in a unique way by the German Foundation for Monument Protection. In a short film you can experience the complex restoration of the building.

Gorch Fock I

White is the ship we love: the barque named after the writer Gorch Fock, built in 1933, served for decades as a sail training ship, initially based in Stralsund, later under Russian and Ukrainian flags. Since 2003, this historic vessel has returned to its home port and is once again moored in Stralsund, where it can now be visited as a museum ship. Currently, only the outer deck is open to visitors, as restoration work inside the ship is still ongoing.

World Heritage Exhibition

The interactive exhibition in the Olthof Palace provides information about the historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar, presents the idea of ​​UNESCO and shows selected world heritage sites at home and abroad.
The first floor reveals a rare treasure: the Wallpaper Hall from 1762.

Harbor cruises

Anyone wanting to admire Stralsund's impressive skyline and experience the city's Hanseatic pride up close should discover it from the water. Several times a day, an approximately one-hour round trip departs from the harbor: passing under the Rügen Bridge, around the Dänholm peninsula, past the shipyard – and finally back to the harbor.
