Wind, water, waves, weather - they have shaped Stralsund's exquisite natural environment. In the center, a belt of water surrounds the city center ensemble from the Hanseatic and Swedish times. Just a few minutes' bike ride out on the coastal cycle path, reed belts, blackberry bushes and quiet avenues await, or the lido offers a small oasis of relaxation. If you just want to get out into the countryside for a short while and unwind, the Stralsund ponds, the city forest or the Devin nature reserve are a good choice.

The three major natural landscapes
Experience the island of Rügen with its chalk cliffs and UNESCO World Heritage beech forest. Hike in the footsteps of Caspar David Friedrich along the Königsstuhl. Another particularly attractive recommendation is of course the small island of Hiddensee. Our sweet Länneken, with its shining landmark, the Dornbusch lighthouse.
Fischland-Darß-Zingst, a beautiful peninsula directly on the Baltic Sea, is known for its picturesque landscape, miles of sandy beaches, idyllic fishing villages and the Ahrenshoop artists' colony.
The Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park between the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, the island of Hiddensee and the west coast of Rügen is a protected habitat for numerous animals and plants. The lagoon area in particular is an important resting place for thousands of migratory birds such as cranes and geese. But the sea eagle is also at home there.
