UNESCO World Heritage Day

Offering a glimpse behind the scenes of World Heritage, experiencing and bringing World Heritage sites to life, and uniting people – this is the threefold goal of UNESCO World Heritage Day, with this year's motto "Together for Peace and Understanding." Almost all of the 55 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Germany are participating.

61th Sundschwimmen

“On your swimming caps, get set, go!” It is the oldest and most important long-distance swim in Germany. The 2.315-meter-long course starts from Altefähr on the island of Rügen and goes across the Strelasund to the Stralsund lido.

Wallenstein Days

Parade, battle reenactments, plague procession, fireworks and all-day stage programs at one of the largest folk festivals in northern Germany. Every year, the colorful hustle and bustle in the old town of the Hanseatic city commemorates the successful defense of Wallenstein in 1628.

7th Stralsund Triathlon

6.09.2026

You will swim in the Strelasund, cycle through the municipality of Kramerhof and run to the Molenkopf. You can start in the Olympic distance (1,5 km/40 km/10 km), in the everyone's triathlon (0,75 km/20 km/5 km) or in the youth triathlon (0,4 km / 10 km / 2,5 km). Be brave! Everyone can take part or cheer on the athletes at the lido and along the course.

18th Rügen Bridge Marathon

32st Tour d' Allée Rügen

The traditional Tour d'Allée Rügen is taking place for the 32st time. Cycling enthusiasts can pedal the German Avenue Road from Stralsund to Sellin at a family-friendly pace, accompanied by celebrities from the cycling scene such as Olaf Ludwig.

City of Stars

from the end of November

Wintertime is star time in our Hanseatic city and Stralsund then becomes the "City of Stars". A total of 26 stars are set up in all parts of the city - each of them over 7 meters high. They shine in all colors until January and bring light and warmth into the hearts of the people of Stralsund and their guests.

Christmas Market

from the end of November

The Hanseatic city is ringing in the Advent season with three Christmas markets in the old town. From the informal and tranquil on the Old Market to the exciting fair on the New Market, there is something for every taste. The Gothic vaulted cellar of the town hall is a magnet for visitors, with lovingly decorated stalls selling art and crafts.

"Molenfeuer"

It has become a lovely tradition to get in the mood for New Year's Eve with the whole family in Stralsund harbor. The fireworks are set off on the north pier and can be seen perfectly from the harbor island and the Sund promenade. Wonderful, colorful effects in the evening sky over the Hanseatic city and the Strelasund.
